It is worth buying if you wanted the bus anyway. The bus is not how you get to this museum.

Jacques is describing the same thing the audioguide reviewers describe: the spoken part of these bundled products is thin, and if you want explanation you are buying it separately. Lindsey’s is the one that should change your plan. The product skips the ticket line at the museum, but you collect the ticket at the operator’s office on Piazza d’Aracoeli first, and that desk can have a queue of its own. Bundled products move the queue rather than removing it, which is the point I keep making on skip-the-line tickets: at the Capitoline the museum queue was never the problem.

Does the bus make sense at the Capitoline?

The Campidoglio sits directly above Piazza Venezia, buses stop there, and the walk from the square past the Vittoriano to Piazza d’Aracoeli and up the Cordonata takes a few minutes. The nearest metro is Colosseo on line B, about ten minutes on foot. Nobody needs a sightseeing bus to reach this hill; getting there lays out every option.
Where the bus earns its place is the rest of your day. Rome’s sights are further apart than the map suggests, and a 24-hour bus ticket on the day you are already doing the Capitoline is a reasonable way to link it to whatever comes next. Judge this product as a transport decision with a museum ticket attached, and it makes sense.
